To mark the five-year anniversary of the ‘War on Terror,’ Exit Art is pleased to present Love/War/Sex, a group exhibition that considers the conflation of those basic human instincts—a toxic combination that is manifested in images and stories coming out of the current war in Iraq and in wars throughout history. The works relate disparate issues such as weapon infatuation, war nostalgia, and the sexualization of violence to form an overall image of war as a perversely necessary trait of human civilization. If love and sex are necessary tools of procreation (birth), then war represents the destructive will of humanity (death), symbolizing a metaphoric beginning and end that narrates all of life.

Incorporating video, sculpture, wallpaper and photography by seven emerging artists, this exhibition connects longing with violence and love with war, imagining the business of war in all its sexual manifestations. It will also feature a selected collection of military artillery and wallpapered texts about the subject creating an immersive, war-obsessed environment.
